Mepham Derby Shoe
Two-tone derby shoes always present a challenge to a bespoke shoemaker. The customer wanted a “statement” shoe which would be noticed when he dresses up for big events and weddings. However, he has a certain footshape which requires some skillful designing to produce a flattering shape. I think we succeeded on both counts. Thankfully, the customer did too and has ordered a second pair for good measure.
He decided to use contrasting colours to give impact. Navy blue and tan seemed to go together well and suited his wardrobe which is important when choosing two-tone derby shoes. The addition of a red lining and bellows tongue give a more subtle colour pop
The welted seat gives some body to the heels (his heels are narrow). In contrast, his joint is wide so we rounded the toe shape to draw the eye away from the width.
