Pocock Derby Shoe

Custom derby shoes are becoming increasingly popular with our customers. And the Pocock demonstrates why. It is elegant and smart, yet still relaxed enough to wear with jeans at the weekend. It is this flexibilty that customers appreciate

The customer asked for a shoe which he could wear to the office in the City but also wear on a night out or weekend away in the country. So a wingcap derby was a great choice.

We started by looking at leathers. He wanted a light tan with some character so we found this calf skin which still kept some growth marks and signs of the animal’s life – we chose the gnarliest section for the toe caps! Once the leather was locked in, other style choices were easier to make. He wanted a wingcap and so we suggested that classic brogue punching on the cap and counter would enhance the overall look.

The style is a classic but we played with the construction elements to give the customer the aesthetic he wanted. The sole is 3/8″ thick but with a matching commando sole which, combined with the turned up rocker sole, gives a sturdier walking shoe vibe.

He chose to have bespoke trees which will prolong the life of the uppers and keep them looking pristine.

UPPERS: tan calf; wingcap; counter; 2:1 brougue punching; 5 lace holes; hand stay stitch

LINING: British Racing Green glace kid

MAKING: standard heel height; 3/8″ sole; hand stitched welt; stacked leather heel; hand finished heels and edges; natural finish throughout; 10 SPI; commando sticker sole; commando heel top piece
