Savile Loafer

The Savile loafer is a sumptuous, buttery soft, bespoke crocodile loafer with masterful hand-stitching on the side seam. It has a raised apron, a royal purple lining and military ribbon tug. The crocodile loafer has matching hand made crocodile tassels and has a rounded toe for a relaxed, comfortable fit.

When Carréducker moved into Gieves and Hawkes in 2010, we made a capsule collection of five styles which were inspired by the G&H military archive. One of the themes which ran through all the pairs was the military ribbon tug. We are great lovers of colour and so the medal ribbons we saw in the archive appealed to the magpie in us. We love the flash of colour in the midst of the chocolate brown and purple.

The closing is a tour de force of hand stitching prowess. We asked the closer to continue the raised lake stitching all the way round the shoe. It looks very luxurious, something we had to keep reminding the closer – it took many hours to do, specially because crocodile is trickier to stitch by hand. The result is fantastic.
