ENCOMPASSING CREATIVE PRACTICES THAT CELEBRATE LEATHER

COLLECTIBLE OBJECTS

As one half of bespoke shoemakers, Carreducker, Deborah is taking her craftsmanship in a new direction making unique leather objects for exhibitions, collections and residences.

Hers is a maker-lead approach, a synergy between cordwaining expertise and material mastery, creating organic forms that meld heritage, innovation and the timeless allure of leather.

The scale of her pieces ranges from small hand held objects to large scale architectural pieces that are engaging and tactile – designed to evoke comfort and invite contemplation and touch – informed by a beachcomber’s eye, remote island life and long walks, observing the natural world.

LOANS & COMMISSIONS

Deborah creates work to commission in response to site-specific environments, colour palettes and styles. She ensures the excellence of craftsmanship necessary for the long life asked of the items, each stamped discretely with her makers mark.

Objects are available to loan for photoshoots and interiors styling.

Please contact Deborah if you would like to borrow an item or are interested in commissioning work.

MATERIAL

She works exclusively with natural vegetable tanned leathers from member tanneries of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale, sourced from Carreducker’s long-standing leather agent A & A Crack in Northampton.

Each tannery strictly adheres to high sustainability, environmental and ethical standards; every hide is a by-product of food production and carries a globally recognized certificate of authenticity. ‍

CARE

Deborah uses natural leather creams and waxes that allows her to champion the subtle beauty of leather, that do not harm our environment and are easy to maintain indefinitely.

Natural creams and waxes allow the leather to breathe and offer protection, whilst enhancing the delicacy of texture and colour. They allow pieces to gradually patina over time, adding new layers of depth to their beauty.

Care instructions are included with each individual product.
