carréducker at gieves & hawkes
carréducker is proud to be a part of the Gieves & Hawkes gentlemen’s emporium at No.1 Savile Row, London which also includes Bill Amberg, Bentleys antiques and Gentlemen’s Tonic.
From our workshop here on the shop floor itself at No.1, we offer a fully bespoke shoe service to complement Gieves & Hawkes' world-renowned bespoke tailoring.
Our approach is similar. We start by taking measurements; assessing the feet; discussing personal style; helping to choose toe shapes; deciding shoe designs; and advising on the leathers, detailing and the finish. Some weeks later customers are invited back for a first fitting. Depending on the complexities of the fit, adjustments to the lasts and further fittings may be needed until the customer is happy. Only then are the shoes actually made by us on the premises.
With its vintage bench, hand held tools and wall of lasts, our workshop is testament to the craft of handsewn shoemaking, in which we were both apprenticed. It offers a rare opportunity for customers to meet and consult with the people who actually make their shoes - us, James and Deborah.
Come and see our centuries-old skills in action - shoes are lasted; welts and soles are stitched; heels are built; and shoes are finished, all by hand. Witness close up the processes which make handsewn bespoke shoes so durable and such a lifelong investment.
We are delighted to enhance the bespoke offering at No 1 Savile Row and look forward to welcoming you personally to our workshop.
